Our impact: People
We believe that a transition to a low-carbon energy system should be deeply rooted in communities. Community energy is a people-driven, change-oriented movement. And we must make sure that everyone is included in our transition, leaving no one behind.
We measure our progress towards this goal through four primary social impact metrics: Planet, People, Prosperity, and Perception. In this article, we look at our impact on the people over the past financial year.

How we do it
We work with Oxfordshire’s communities to engage with individuals and groups on our low-carbon journey. We deliver this through:
- Working with local schools and businesses that host our solar panels and batteries to generate and store more clean, community-owned energy.
- Engaging with our community of investors who are helping fund the upfront costs of our projects while democratising ownership of energy resources.
- Sharing our knowledge with community energy groups that are generating renewable energy for the benefit of their local areas.
- Reaching more households and businesses with retrofitting and energy efficiency services through our partnership programmes.
- Informing our community of supporters of the work we are carrying out through our website, social media and newsletters.
Highlights from our 23/24 year
People, communities and our network of supporters are crucial to the success of the Low Carbon Hub team.
We are grateful for the support of the following individuals and organisations:
1,773 Investor members who are investing their money to support our ongoing renewable energy installations.
45 Solar Hosts – schools and businesses that are benefiting from our solar installations on their buildings.
46 Community Groups in our network – dedicated groups of people who are working to achieve our collective vision of a low-carbon Oxfordshire.
14,000+ Supporters – Our network is always growing as we bring more people on our journey. We are currently working in partnership with 190 people representing 61 organisations and keeping all our supporters informed about what we’ve been doing and why.
A growing movement of like-minded people
The success of our projects to date reflects the importance we place on collaboration with people, groups, and businesses across our portfolio, and would not be achieved without the incredible support of the people and organisations in the communities we serve.
We understand the importance of involving people and communities in our efforts to transition to a low-carbon future. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in our communities is engaged and supportive as we work towards a net zero energy system.
