A fun day full of energy in Freeland
Around 70 people took part in Freeland Energy Group’s Warm Home Energy Day in September.
Organised by Freeland Energy Group with the support of CAPZero partners, their Warm Home Energy Day in September proved to be an excellent introduction to the project.
Local residents and business owners came along to find out more about CAPZero and what they might be able to do at home and work. Local parish and West Oxfordshire District councillors also joined in to show their support.
Popular stalls and activities included:
- A prize draw to win one of three free CAPZero-sponsored Cosy Homes Oxfordshire Whole House Plans, usually £600 – and for kids, the chance to win one of two Curiosity Boxes, kindly donated by Curiousity Box founder and Freeland local Becky – thanks Becky!
- The chance to sign up for Freeland Energy Group’s thermal imaging campaign and to chose a name for their new logo
- The chance to play Low Carbon Hub’s Grid Balancing Game, a role playing game which gives players the chance to explore how they can help balance the electricity grid as we switch to renewable energy. Some young players were not as keen to share their resources as you might hope! We can make this fun game available to others; if you’d like to have a go, get in touch.
- Oxfordshire County Council’s Retrofit Team sharing lots of useful information, including their Energy Saver app that could help you save money on your home energy bills (on average 8% or over £200 a year) and reduce your household emissions
- An Energy Advice stall run by Low Carbon Hub’s Energy Advisor, Ros (find our energy advice pages here on the website)
- Face painting with Lou from I Love Funky Faces, enjoyed by kids and adults alike
Thanks to all those who came along.
