Chinnor and Thame Friends of the Earth
Chinnor and Thame Friends of the Earth are a long established group that formed in 1989. They campaign for change in the community to make a positive difference to the environment at a local, national and global level.
They worked with Chinnor Parish Council to develop an Environmental Policy in response to the climate emergency and produced an infographic to explain the policy to the village.
They partner with several other local community groups and have worked with Greening Chinnor on supporting the Chinnor Community Orchard. They are part of the Solar Streets initiative with Thame Green Living and helped to run a plastics reduction campaign with Plastic Free Chinnor.
The group have plans for a number of short term and longer-term projects including:
- Working with local landowners to develop a cycle link from Chinor to the Pheonix Trail that links together the surrounding villages
- Working with Oxford Friends of the Earth to present a strategy at COP 26 Climate Talks in November 2021
- Providing input on sustainable measures in new housing developments
- Reducing waste and consumption.
