First and last mile

First and Last Mile formed in 2020 to reconnect communities which had been left isolated and reliant on public car use, following the cessation of public transport services between a number of West Oxfordshire villages. The group provides safe, accessible, cost-effective, flexible transport, serving the villages between Long Hanborough and Standlake.

First & Last Mile CIC has provided a community transport service that connects the villages in and around Eynsham for those who cannot (and prefer not to) travel by private cars or taxis. They currently operate two routes, the 411 and 418, running through villages in West Oxfordshire.

A volunteer-led and not-for-profit organisation, First and Last Mile’s services compliment existing public transport services, rather than competing with them. Bus routes act as a feeder service to other transport options, offering a cleaner, cheaper way to travel from village to village.

The group also provides a Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of drivers to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys to passengers. The course is open for all drivers whether professional, paid or volunteers.

It’s my lifeline. without the service I would be completely isolated, unless. I pay for expensive taxis. An absolute godsend
