The Market Garden: cultivating sustainability in the heart of the community
Energy Solutions Oxfordshire (ESOx) provide expert energy assessments for businesses in Oxfordshire, as part of our community benefit projects. The expert team at ESOx provide businesses with the tools and advice they need to reduce their energy costs, cut carbon emissions and demostrate their commitment to fighting climate change. The Market Garden is one such business, based in West Oxfordshire, who have benefited from the assessments offered by the expert team.
Based in a rented seventeenth-century building within a conservation area, The Market Garden is more than just a local greengrocer, deli, and café. Owned by Jonathan Bowden, this innovative business represents a unique blend of community spirit, environmental consciousness, and commercial viability.
The business benefited from an Energy Solutions Oxfordshire energy assessment in 2022, and have made various changes as a result, with plans for more this summer. Like all those who have had an ESOx energy assessment to date, The Market Garden will be eligible to apply for capital funding from Low Carbon Hub from April 2025, to support implementation of recommended measures.
